2008-09 Season

THE ANDERSON CENTER OFFERS BLOCKBUSTER SEASON WITH 8 SHOWS

We are pleased to announce our new season of varied performances, particularly in dance. This past season, the Center showcased Russian Stars of the St. Petersburg State Ice Ballet featuring the perennial favorite The Nutcracker as a special. The performance was unique and so well received that we are bringing the company back with Swan Lake on ice and including it in our series. We also look forward to the return of Ballet Flamenco Jose Porcel, who danced to a capacity theater in 2005. Also returning is the Russian National Ballet with a full-length Cinderella, a rarity in Binghamton. While not dance, the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra's presentation of An Evening of Celtic Traditional and Folk Music is sure to get the audiences' toes tapping.

Our 2008-09 season begins with three dynamite summer concerts. An Evening of Upstate Jazz on Friday, July 11 features Rochester native, Chuck Mangione, on flugelhorn with special guest Tony DeSare, an Ithaca College graduate, who is described by the New York Times as "...a lean baby Sinatra." Then on Thursday, July 31, the fantastic Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Earth, Wind & Fire bring their Beyond The Elements Tour 2008 to Binghamton. On Tuesday, August 26, there will be a special performance by Binghamton University Alum Ingrid Michaelson, an up and coming artist who recently was featured on the cover of Billboard Magazine. Australian born Ben Lee, who has been on the music scene since age 14, will open for Michaelson.
